Boston-based violinist Catherine Miller has been described musically as a “coalescing force.” She is consistently praised for her ability to blend harmonically with other musicians. As a performer in small groups, she enriches the overall sound to create something far greater than the sum of its parts.

After graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in violin performance, Catherine was an active orchestral musician, classical freelancer, and private violin instructor. She also moonlighted at various folk dance and music events with the Barn Owl Band in central Iowa. Now in Boston since 2009, Catherine performs regularly in the New England area for English, Scottish, and contra dances. She plays with various pick-up groups, is part of the Scottish dance band Saucy Bess, and is a member of High Drive, an energetic Scottish country dance band that performs at RSCDS events around New England.
